Leave Leaf Litter
Don't rake up all your leaf litter, leave some for insects to hibernate in!
A corner of your garden, below a hedge or simply left where it fell: leaving leaf litter is highly beneficial for hibernating insects, which in turn, provide food for birds, mammals and other invertebrates.
If you want your garden to still look tidy, leave the leaf litter underneath a hedge or large shrub, this way the leaves won't blow away and are out of sight and still provide shelter for a range of insects.
Simple and effective!
